Windows XP bug?

Okay, this is a problem that I've encounter when I start using Vob_Blanker, MuxMan or any DVD tools that has the open/replace option. Each time this problem occurs, it make me sick - total frustration!!!

You can test it by yourself and see how frustating is... Especially, when you've replaced 11/12 vob file and it shut down at the last file! :devil: Looks like this problem only occurs when you place things in the "desktop".

Here's the problem (please follow the step):
1. Open (Load) a DVD with Vob_Blanker.
2. On desktop, right-click -> New -> Text Document -> Rename it to XXXX.vob (any filename will work). I choose a .vob, because we will use the "replace" function.
3. Now, try to replace a CELL in a title and locate the XXXX.vob (do it normally, not too fast). Now, put your "arrow" on that file.

-> Now, what? The program is closing! Vob_Blanker is vanished! lol

You can try to do the same thing with MuxMan or any DVD Tools. If the files is located on DESKTOP, it will vanish when you put your mouse on it!

If anyone know how to cure this, please help. Sometime, I want to kill Windows XP because of it. heheh

What version of VobBlanker (http://jsoto.posunplugged.com/vobblanker.htm) do you have? There was an issue with vanishing windows a while back that affected some people (including me) but I think it is fixed now. (EDIT: It had to do with clicking on Split to split a cell, and it is definintely fixed).

Tempted to move this to IFO/VOB Editors but let's see if others have the same issue and it turns into a General Discussions problem.

Tempted to move this to IFO/VOB Editors but let's see if others have the same issue and it turns into a General Discussions problem.

Any version will have this. I just tried it with the lastest version. It's the same with MuxMan (Q version) --> open a video, audio or subpic, and it will shut down.

I've tried it with my toshiba satellite laptop and the problem still occurs. Tried with 3 differents PC and the same effect.

Between, sometime, by luck it, won't shut down the program. To avoid this, we need to select that file ASAP. It's like someone is looking at us, if they caught us, then the program will shut down.

This thing make me mad. Grrr...

Hope someone know a way to cure this. Really, even if you are happy, when you get this, you'll really want to destroy the Windows. hehe

EDIT: Just tried it with IFOEdit 0.96 and the program close itslef. haha

I think this problem comes from the Windows! So, it could be a bug/glitch!

I suspect it's a media-borne rootkit. Do you have autoplay enabled on your DVD drive? If so, you may have accidentally had one of macrovision's or sony's rootkits installed that prevent all kinds of drive accesses from happening. Or a plain old virus.

Or your windows installation is just badly corrupted, that's always another possibility. Reinstalling from scratch would probably make everything good again, but it'd save a lot of time to check out your drivers, services, and startup items to see if anything doesn't belong first.

Yes, the auto-play is enable. My DVD-RW drive is a Sony...

Is there's any problem with that? But how come all my PCs (Tried it with PIII, PIV, PIV HT and Laptop) got the same thing?

I don't think it's about corrupt files. I just reformat my PC - Clean install - and Ithe problem still persist.

People may not realise this, but there are literally hundreds of bugs that Microsoft have fixed, that are available in hotfixes that you usually have to request for. Maybe the bug you are experiencing is related to that?

They are downloadable from here: (and if you follow the links you can find updates for Office 2007 and Vista/Vista x64 as well). Most of the normal hotfixes aren't released on this site, these are extras! (yeah 600 of them), I'm pretty sure they're all post sp2.
