Hi!

Last week I bought "Erbarmungslos" (Unforgiven) HD-DVD. I used latest AACSKeys (v0.2.8) to obtain the DISCID and VUK.

Entry in KEYDB looks like this:
55C4D8DB74208CDD947DAA9CEA2A893587AF5E20=Unforgiven |V|MM/DD/YY| 2FE85F1AF066C802E9D938253458330F

The tool used for decrypting was the latest DumpHD (0.32).

After I copied the files to HD, I muxed them via GraphEdit (Haali Splitter & Muxxer) to *.mkv.
But this *.mkv starts with a pale green screen and sometimes its impossible to get to a certain scene, looks like it wasn't fully decypted.
I also tried DVDFabHD Decrypter, but it was the same problem.

Tried with another HD-DVD (Vendetta), this one worked perfectly.

Anyone got an idea?

Thanks :thanks:

Hi,
it looks like it is the US Version in then KEYDB.
The VUK and HASH for the EUR Version shoud be different.

So u have to get the right VUK and HASH from your Disc.

Does PowerDVD playback the rip in disc mode without these errors?

When you run aacskeys in verbose mode, is the Volume ID all zero?

I replaced the entry for Unforgiven in the KEYDB according to the information AACSKEYS gave me, so no error here.

1. Haven't tried PowerDVD, I'll do it when I get back from work. But I was able to play all other HD-DVDs (10) after decrypting & remuxing without a single problem.

2. No, the VolumeID is 400025075105180757474844564D0000

I've tried PowerDVD, audio & picture is distorted and skips at the same scenes like the muxed *.mkv

So, any help is still appreciated :)

What PowerDVD version do you use? Does the movie run fine from the HD-DVD? Is there a file called SKBF.AACS in the AACS folder of the disc?

Maybe you can also open the main EVOs in EVODemux and check if it reports 2 video streams (you can also use PackScanner from the DumpHD packge and let it run for a minute or so and check for any STREAM_FOR_SUB), although i doubt there will be any, the US release does not have them.

PowerDVD Version is 6.5 (not that new, I know, but I don't watch any AACS-protected movies because I don't have a HDCP-enabled graphics card), it doesn't play this movie.

EvoDemux reports only one video-stream and theres no such file (SKBF.AACS) in the AACS directory.

So what now?

:thanks:

Well, i'm running out of ideas. At least i can rule out IME problems and Sequence Key Sections. I don't think the decryption failed, this cannot be if parts of the movie run fine (except there is a mastering error).

I remember when i developed PackScanner and scanned some of my EVOs in QuickScan mode it found some damaged video packs (a length field in the header was wrong). However i had no problems to play back these files in PowerDVD Ultra 7.2. So i don't know, maybe the splitter you used relies on these fields?

Have you demuxed a part of the EVO with EVODemux and played back the raw VC-1 stream, does this work (WinDVD 8 can play raw VC-1 streams, but i think you have to change the extension to something else, it doesn't recognize the stream with the name from EVODemux, but i can't remember exactly)?

The problem you have described here is an issue of the Haali filter since the EVO file can be played correcly with PowerDVD 7.2. There is obviously something in the VC1 track that the Haali filter doesn't like and this causes garbage video.

This issue also exists with the Phantom of the Opera title. Maybe you can join us in this thread http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=80762&page=36 and support us to encourage Haali to release a new version of his great filter.
