So here is my dilima... if I encode a dvd (typical 720x480) w/2mps, 2pass, etc. The video seems to have a whiteish haze to it. Basically the contrast is different from the original. If I encode the same DVD but under the "video" tab I select auto crop and custom size of "1280x720" and all the other same settings the video looks great and the contrast is the same as the original. But here is the one problem, at that size the file is the same file size as the other, but the higher resolution the video is choppy on lets say a not so adiquate system. It runs great on my media center... 2ghz, 2gb ram, ATI card, etc. But on my laptop... 1.5ghz, 512mb ram it is choppy as hell. Any ideas what I could do?? the original 720x480 runs smooth on the laptop but not the 1280x720.
