View Full Version : Frame Conversion problems?

I have some mpg files on my computer that I wish to change to dvd. However, when I do, the frame rates get skittish and sluggish when the screen pans.

I am using TMPGEnc 4 and I have tried various settings, including 3:2 pulldowns with the different deinterlace methods, just plain interlace with different de-interlace methods, I have tried it was 29.xxx just as interlace and as 29.xxx with 3:2, and 23.xxx the same way. The ones that did come out, all came out the same way. Very jumpy and skittish with the screen pans, or with faster moving objects on the scree, and to me, makes it unwatchable.

The original version is NTSC, and the result version is also NTSC.

Any ideas?

Please post a link to an UNPROCESSED source sample of a high motion area. With that, we can properly advise you.

There are less High Motion scenes then really was worth trying to find at the moment, but the same effect would happen during the screen panning and the faster moving parts (though not as noticeable when they move slower, its mainly the panning that bothers me).

Progressive MPEG1 with a dup every 5 frames and nonstandard colorimetry? And you say you captured that? Excuse me if I raise an eyebrow.

But I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and tell you that all you need is Decimate(5). Then apply 3:2 pulldown with TMPGEnc when encoding.

what is a Decimate? I have been using 3:2 pulldown, put still get the jumpy frames.

MPEG1? You sure? Because WinTv is set for MPEG 2 2 MB/sec.

And the only English source of .hack//ROOTS other than the DVDs is Cartoon Network, which as far as I know doesn't broadcast anything remotely like that :rolleyes:

I'm sure. And I also know that you encoded that sample with TMPGEnc 4. Your disingenuity has crossed the threshold. Thread closed.
