Luminance and darkness masking for x264

In MPEG-4 ASP like Xvid or DivX there's luminance and darkness masking available. I see no such thing in x264. Will these features be added to x264 in the near future or are they not meaningful for a codec like x264?

IMNSHO, Xvid's and Divx's luminance and dark masking don't work either. So it's not available in x264, but that's not due to any difference in h264.

I hate to argue with a x264 developer, especially when I don't know how x264 codes blocks, but that doesn't mean that when lumi and dark masking don't work in Xvid or DivX, they can't be implemented the proper way in x264
