View Full Version : DV to DVD - hardware encoding

Hi, I often have to burn DV footage to DVD. I am sick of having to import it into my computer (2 hours), then do a multipass encoding (leave it overnight) before burning it to DVD.

One of the options open to me is to get a consumer DVD recorder to record it straight to DVD in real time. One of my concerns is the quality of the encoding. Does anyone have some comments on various brands of DVD recorder - what the quality is like and what manual settings there are (bit rate, VBR, fixed, etc)

The other option open to me is to go pro. Does anyone have any comments/experience with Vitec cards or anything similar?

Doom9 is still a great forum! Look forward to your answers.
