View Full Version : PgcEdit: make all other candidates seamless?

Hi there,

I have a question about double layer (+R) burning.

When I need to choose the layer break, multiple cells are highlighted as light-blue, meaning they are non-seamless cells and that they are fit to be used in a layer break.

My question is this:

When I choose one of these non-seamless cells to act as the layer break, do I have to make all the other cells seamless with the "Seamless cell" button? Or can I leave them to be non-seamless?

Thanks in advance for any helpfull answers!

The question can't be answered definitively, IMO. Many cells need to be non-seamless due to their very nature (eg entry point to a PGC, or cell command in previous cell). I'd leave them as is.

Thanks very much for your answer!

The DVD has a very high bitrate with lots of peaks, so I figured that would be the reason they are non-seamless.

Irrespective of bitrate, most cells in a DVD are seamless, except at the layer break. And most players these days seem to have no trouble playing a seamless cell across the layer break. Do a search in this forum - there was a gigantic thread a year or so ago initiated by Jamos which started this whole seamless layer break initiative.

Thanks again!

I will do that!
