When I choose the "Target Quality" option in AutoGK I get the message "Some standalone compatibility settings will be ignored in this mode!".
Which compatibility settings are these?

Bitrate peaks

Thanks.
Is there any tool that will show the peak bitrate in a file, or a graph of bitrates throughout?

AutoGk is using a "specialized" version of the xvid codec, coded by CelticDruid, which includes some hardcoded presets
for preventing bitrate spikes which would otherwise struggle your sap to crawl.
In target quality mode the restrictions are disabled and the results can overshoot the possibilities of your sap.
To monitor the bitrate allocation during encoding you can use the build in "Display encoding status" of the xvid codec.
But AutoGk disables it for speed reasons during encoding.
So you got to set up a manual encode to watch it.
Or do a little hacking in the AutoGk process chain.
An old program come to my mind for analyzing encoded material: DRF Analyzer
But I don't know how reliable it is on modern codecs.
Used it years ago.
