FIR Lowpass 5 deinterlacer VS Yadif

Hi,

Can someone tell me the advantages and disadvantages of the FIR Lowpass 5 and Yadif deinterlacers. I see a lot of people use Linear Blend deinterlacer when using MEncoder, why not FIR or Yadif?

Old habits, I imagine. yadif is relatively new, but it's superior to l5 and lb. Mind you, there are some cases where blending looks better (scrolling news ticker, say), although overall yadif is vastly superior as it is much more intelligent.
