Staxrip, automkv dvd to x264 AUDIO ALWAYS out of sync + aspect ratio prob

whenever i encode my dvds (ripped using ripit4me/dvd decryptor, tried various titles) using automkv or staxrip the end result is that the audio is always out of sync. its not simply a few seconds, but so off that i cannot tell how far apart the audio is from the video, and whether the audio is lagged or too fast.

using stax rip:
1) i open ALL the vobs (i have also tried opening only the movie vobs but i get the same problem)
2) once the d2v project has been automatically created i select my options (x264 crf 22, no resize, auto crop). for audio i use whatever audio staxrip selects (making sure its the ac3 file for the movie), then do not convert.

the end result is that the audio is totally out of sync. i think the problem lies in the fact that staxrip when creating the d2v file combines ALL the vobs, so that in the preview window its a long movie which includes the title screen and all bonus features together with the main movie. thus it then doesnt understand how to properly mux in the ac3 file.

however, whether i 'cut' the movie or not (selecting portions of the whole movie) i get the same problem.

does anyone have a clue?

i have tried so many things, like different computers, different codecs (and with and without codecs), different movies, different x264 settings (various crf settings and quantizer settings), various audio settings (leave as ac3 or encode), different players to decode the final files etc

i have encoded alot of stuff using xvid via auto gordian knot and gordian knot and it works. although i am no expert i know a little abt encoding.

if anyone can help me out i would greatly appreciate it! thanks

EDIT: the other issue i have is the final mkv file's default aspect ratio is always wrong. of course this is easy to fix via changing the aspect ratio post-processing (eg through vlc) but i rather have a correct default aspect ratio. anyone know ?

using autogk you got synch ? (just to exclude the bad rip)

i have never had syncing issues with autogk. although for these few movies i didnt try autogk, the same problem occurs with many movies encoded on 2 diff computers. i have tried re-ripping from the original dvd.

ok, altho the movies i have tried are pirates 1, apocalypto, harry potter, interview a vampire. And the vobs are in sync.

i will try to encode these using autoGK then, and then post back.

i managed to get it working! the problem was with staxrip. i didnt properly try automkv before giving up, as it kept on crashing. i realise the problem is that it needs windows .net 2.0. once downloaded i can encode properly, with audio in sync.

automkv is a much better program as well, with a better interface. also, loading an ifo makes more sense that loading all the vob files and then cutting.

however, the subtitles are out of sync. both movies i did were 13000ms out of sync (approx). this isnt too bad a problem as i can fix it via adding delay, but do you know why? i tried playing it back using VLC, zoom player and media player on 2 diff comps. Same problem.

could this be caused by codecs installed on the encoding machine? i am uninstalling all codecs and simply installing the CCCP to encode again and see tonight.
