Problem with DVD Playback on Windows Media Player.

I am not sure what the exact problem is, but I can't play DVDs, both on my harddrive and on disk, on Windows Media Player.

I have DScaler installed which I think should allow me to play it on WMP. (Correct me if I am wrong here)

I am running Vista if that is any help.

If you have Vista Home Premium or Ultimate, you don't need any additional third-party software (e.g., DScaler) to play DVDs.

However, for some reason playing them in WMP is iffy, to say the least. Indeed, on my Vista system, WMP couldn't even acknowledge any DVD was in the drive(!)

Using Windows Media Center (WMC) solved the problem. I had no problems opening the DVDs and playing them. It plays them very well, too.

Like most stuff with Vista, getting to WMC in the first place may require a bit of navigation. It's somewhere on the Start menu (which, of course, isn't called that anymore!) but I can't remember exactly where.
