WVC1 to MPEG-2/TS/WMV9/MP4 (To Play on Mvix 760HD) ??

Hello peoples, i have alot of movies in HD but they are all encoded in WVC1 and that is a codec that my MVIX 760HD don't understand. Now is my question !
How can i make the MVIX to play HD files with No Quality Loss and 5.1 Audio ?

I founded a way to play them, but it needs about 26hours encoding time for a 1h40min movie... that is too much even for a +3200 processor.

Have you tried using Windows Media Encoder? Your device only seems to handle WMV9 Main profile Main Level 720p so you'd have to set it at that.

Even better, if you're comfortable with command-line tools use Zambelli's WMCmd.vbs where you can set a lower v_performance if you think it takes too long...(depending on quality/file size requirements)

Also, you could try Encode360...

I think you can forget about the "no quality loss" part though...

the fastest (and still slow) vc-1 decoder is the one from m$. you can use it by creating an .avs script like:

directshowsource("path to .wmv file")after creating this script and installing avisynth you can feed the .avs to megui or whatever encoding tool you want that outputs a format you need

I tryed Encode360 also, and encoding time is same as with Windows Media Encoder ! Am goin to try Bond's way now !

I did some tests two years ago with same box (from EM8621 SDK of SigmaDesign, like Tvix M5000,...).

If the encoded video are not entrelaced you can only change the FOURCC code (WVC1 by WMV3).
After the player will play video (work at 75%).

Be careful, a Main Profile decoder would also be missing support for P and B frame dquant, range reduction, and variable resolutions... (off top of my head, there might be other features missing too).

Yes, you're right but Sigma Design chipset 8621 support VC1,
the Box firmware is generally lock to read some specific FOURCC code !!!!

Video chipset can decode it but the soft inside don't send the video
at this chipset.

Same, I post many month before for ask about mux VC1 on WMV container
because no way to have a box which play VC1 elementary stream.
I ask some developpers of box from 5 differents companies !!!
Lot of use Sigma Design chipset (not Broadcom ? Only MS support it?),
I think they use only Linux SDK platform from Sigma with only cosmetic change....:mad:


Zambelli do you know what is the chipset inside of Club Internet box?
(Box which support MS IPTV technology, Club Internet is french ISP).
All others ISP companies (except Alice, I don't know what there is inside)
use box with Linux inside. All box use Sigma Design chipset for IPTV HD box,
and all HD video stream, today, are in H264 (IPTV or DVB-T).

All box use hardware, chipset, to decode video. And for VC1 HD,
like H264, it is automaticly if not the box will be expensive
( big power processor unit chipset are expensice ).
Last year I find only three companies which make chipset to decode
HD video (VC1, H264 and MPEG2):
Broadcom : chipset use on all HD DVD player ? (and Microsoft HD DVD hardware SDK:
bundle with WinCE for iHD code) and some DVB/DTV receiver
Sigma Design : chipset use on lot of box (there is one linux SDK) ISP IPTV box,
DVD player with network connection, video network player, DVB/DTV receiver,...
STMicro: chipset use only (?) on DVB/DTV receiver (very bad chipset family for H264,
never see in VC1 because no VC1 on DVB stream available...).

I listen on some show (computex,...) there is two other new company with chipset
to decode HD video codec (never see box and never test it).

About H264 video decode, be carefull because all first test (HDTV broadcast like Voom,...)
and chipset were only in Main Profil. Since september 2006, it was change,
now all Profil up Level 4.1 (all options) are available. Soon we will re-do
the HDDVD codec challenge with specific matrix quantizer in High Profil :D
(we will win at low bitrate up 1 dB in metrix result from my personal test).

i estimate the first H.264/VC-1 lowcost player with Matroska support will be arround 150$ @ first like the begining of the ASP player only difference will be HD support from the start
Logos will be for sure X264 AVC, XviD 2.0 ASP/AVC, NeroDigital AVC, DivX and Matroska certified :P

Has the Matroska team been working with IHVs on implementation and logo certification? Hardware support rarely just happens without very tight co-operation between software and hardware partners.
I think that logo certification is more likely to happen for "brand" names such as DivX and Nero, and ISO/MPEG names such as MPEG-4 and H.264. OSS names such as XviD, x264 and Matroska are unlikely to see their logos appear on any hardware without significant business effort on their part. In fact, I don't see why x264 would ever appear as a logo anywhere - that's an ENcoder name, not a codec name.

I have a TViX M-4000P and this is exactly what I need to try. Could somebody tell how to change the FourCC code from VC1 to WMV3 in WMV file?
