This may seem like an odd question but my computer's motherboard is IDE. I am looking at getting a PCI IDE card. I was wondering if I bought a card with SATA connections could I just buy a SATA hard drive and use it with my current IDE motherboard?
Thanks

This is a hardware issue, and sure, if you buy a SATA controller, you can connect any kind of SATA device to it. In the old days of computing, there were no controllers of any kind on the mainboard and you always had to buy them seperately.
