View Full Version : How do I properly Deinterlace a video?

I'm trying to convert a VOB file to h264.

I first started with staxrip and used ITVC filter, and that got rid of most of the lines, but a few small areas in a few frames still appeared interlaced.

So I am supposed to use DGindex first? I opened the video in DGindex then used force film, and saved project with demux.
but the video automatically came out in real small resolution, is that normal? when I resize to 704x400 the AR will still be good?
also the timing from the DGindex video is really off. I did not see a timestamp file anywhere neither.
so what is the proper way for me to deinterlace from DVD if I want to encode?

it's because most anime DVDs don't IVTC cleanly with automatic filters. Use YATTA :P

As to the small size, this doesn't make sense. DGIndex does not change the size of the video at all. As for timing, audio delay is in the filename.

yatta is pretty involving from what I hear, but I'll look into learning how to use it soon.

will using the decomb filter or a regular deinterlacing filter along with ITVC filter give any better results with regards to mouth comb and such?

Don't just use Forced Film without knowing when to actually use it. Same goes for YATTA.

Doom9 has a great tutorial regarding IVTC here:

Once you understand what IVTC is, then move on to YATTA. With Yatta, imo, you'll have much more control over each of your frames and that's what the great thing about it is. The only way to basically learn YATTA is by it's help file.
