Good tool for easy ripping?

Is there a tool that encodes DVDs to avi or mpg as simple as DVDShrink backs up a DVD to iso? I've tried a tool called Handbrake, but it doesn't recognize any of my DVDs.

DGDMPGDec 1.4.9 - latest version of the tool formerly known as DVD2AVI.
DVD2AVI frm - special DVD2AVI version for ScenChap
DVDx 2.2 - all in one DVD -> VCD/SVCD encoder.

You have to figure out what works best for you !
