Dear Friends,

Now a days there are lot of movies available on net. My client also wants to put his movies on Net. We are doing VCD and DVD Authoring at present.

We are using Optibase Encoder for VCD and Spruce Encoder for DVD Authoring. We also have Real Magic DVR Card in spare.

I need a good quality file to be put on Net for streaming. Please advice as i will have to buy a new Encoder card for this format? Or i can use my exsisting cards for this purpose.
I dont mind spending if i am getting good results.

Please advise as what is the correct method to produce WMV files for streaming.

Thanks.

For optimal WMV for streaming, you want to do 2-pass CBR encoding. I recommend an 8-second buffer assuming you're using Windows 2003 or 2008 server with Fast Start/Cache on.

You can encode in software only from a wide variety of capture cards. You're better off capturing to .avi first and encoding from there. I don't know if either of the above support capture to AVI, but you can get great cards for well under $1000 these days.
