Can't get Xvid's bitrate to come out right.

Hey guys I've been ripping DVDs with Gordian Knot and encoding them to XVID for a long time. All of a sudden though, XVID just starts encoding all of the videos to a way higher bitrate then I want. I have it set at 1040 Kbps but when it is done I open it with Vdub and click file information and it says like 1760 Kbps, or something totally off. I tried uninstalling XVID and reinstalling it, and when I did it worked again for a little while, and then started going off again.

I've looked through the archives (maybe I missed something), but this is a real problem.

are you doing two pass encoding? if so did you change the location of your stats file recently?

I've noticed that more recent builds of Xvid along with performing IVTC in Gordian Knot will throw off the file size, always over. I haven't found a solution other than using an older Xvid version. My solution now is to encode with my desired settings, get a "wrong size" file, then re-encode with a guesstimate reduction of filesize to get a "close enough" output. I've learned to get within 5 MB of my desired output size on the second encode.

If you're not using IVTC and you still have this problem, uninstall Xvid, delete the xvid.ax and xvid.dll files, reboot and reinstall Xvid. From within Gordian Knot's Options tab, enter the Xvid 1st pass settings and set the Profile @ Level to unrestricted, and repeat for 2nd pass.
