Creative MediaSource 5 Question?

Does anyone know how creative mediasource 5's smart volume mangament work?
Its says for best performance you should have it analyze the files first.
I just wanna know if it stores the analysis data in a database or does it change the actual file and store the metadata in the file itself?

If its the latter then your file would be modified and that you could easily see from the "Last modified on" timestamp in windows explorer.
