i know there have been quite a few threads on mpc, mkv, x264, coreavc - the whole bunch. still, not one of them deals with mpc crashing when using coreavc...
since 1080p-files encoded with x264 stutter on my machine (x2 4800+) using the libavcodec and i read that using coreavc should solve the problem, i gave it a try - only to find out that as soon as i disable the handling for x264 in the filter options of ffdshow and try to open any x264 encoded file, mpc crashes.
this is a real big problem for me (since i don't see another option besides using coreavc to get those 1080p videos running stutter-free) and i haven't found an answer anywhere (people seem to have all kinds of problems but no crashes...), so i thought "if nobody at doom9.org knows an answer, i probably won't find one anywhere else".
and in case you're wondering if my cpu would even be able to handle it - it's a x2 4800+, so i suppose it should work... seems like it's just the one core that's not enough, since the cpu usage is at a constant 50% when watching a 1080p-file using libavcodec...
