Recently i got GITS 1st giga and 2nd giga boxsets, i have just finished watch all of the 1st giga. Now i noticed that the last episode on vol.6 and all 3 on vol.7 had a juddering effect on movement this problem never happed on any of the other episodes just the last 4.

Now i have read else were about juddering and ghosting with anime due to them most of the time being NTSC->PAL conversion but i have read a couple of times that this is not a problem with GITS SAC due to the master being HD 24fps. I have checked the video footage in VD and theres no combing lines so i would say this is progressive. Where the juddering happens the image has a slight blur and kinda looks like two fields mixed together which i dont think i have seen before on progressive footage.

Has anyone else noticed this at all ?? did manga mess up these 4 episodes ??

These are the PAL UK releases.

I have the UK 1st Gig boxset and IIRC they messed the last few eps up. I had samples etc. available earlier and other people confirmed it (no-one believed it till they saw the samples). Very dissapointing.

If they did it must have been fixable as I've seen the KAA rips of them, and they look just as good as the rest as far as I remember.

I have a friend who's getting the rest of 2nd GIG here in the US so I could try to find out.

Sorry might not have been too clear, its the 1st Giga i was talking about not the 2nd.

Haven't seen all of the 2nd Giga yet.

yeah, this is on the masters.

the UK version (AFAIK) is the same as the r4 version. the last 2 or 3 eps appear to have been mastered differently - even the intro looks different.

i'd wager the NTSC version looks like this too. not sure. it's all been dubbed off HDCAM with downscale and speedup to PAL, but that process says nothing about what was on the original HDCAM.

The master like that.... mmmmmm. I wont get the NTSC yet just incase thats the same. I'll have to find out for sure on the NTSC version, dont want to waste money if there the same as the R2 versions.
