I'm lost. I've read, I've downloaded, I've messed with stuff yet nothing I do will work. I'm sorry to ask, but I just can't get my VC-1 Adv (WMP11) movie to play.

GSPOT reports:
Codec:WVC1
Name:VC-1 Adv (WMP11)
Status:Codec Status Undetermined

Container: ASF (.WMA/.WMV)
Mime type: video/x-ms-asf
File Length Correct
Sys Bitrate: 14046 kb/s

Aud:Windows Media Audio 10 Professional
Aud:768 kbps, 48 kHz, 5.1 channel 24 bit 1-pass CBR
Vid:Windows Media Video 9 Advanced Profile
Aud:DeviceConformanceTemplate:M2
Aud:WM/WMADRCPeakReference:32767
Aud:WM/WMADRCPeakTarget:32767
Aud:WM/WMADRCAverageReference:1473
Aud:WM/WMADRCAverageTarget:1473
Vid:DeviceConformanceTemplate:AP@L3

Then down at the bottom in the "Proposed coded solutions" I can even right click on the (SRC) for video and click "Play this graph" and it plays in Gspot. I can't get it to work anywhere else and don't understand how it can have the codec as undertmined but can play it. The stream thing says "ffdshow Video Decoder" --- but nothing can play it, not Windows Media Player (v11.0.5721.5145) not ZoomPlayer or other stuff I have tried either.

I have installed ffshow, various codec packs have been installed / uninstalled / reinstalled.

Although it's probably stupid and maybe very straight forward I would like "grandma's guide" to get this working... telling me to click "START > CONTROL PANEL" will not be considered bad..... I'm usually good on reading and finding solutions, but nothing I do will work, and I've been trying for many hours now...

Anyone that answers, please make it idiot proof --- apparently I've become an idiot and I just didn't see it happen...

Do you have the *WVC1* codec loaded to your computer? Get into your Device Manager (assuming you're running a Windoze box) and open up your *Sound, video, and game controllers*. At the bottom of that list, you'll see an entry for video codecs; double click and open. If the *WVC1* codec is not in that list, locate and install the rascal. If not, I don't know what to tell you. :)

Hi!Sys Bitrate: 14046 kb/s
Aud:768 kbps, 48 kHz, 5.1 channel 24 bit 1-pass CBRFrom what I've read in the VC-1, etc.-related sub-forums here, many systems don't have sufficient "juice" to handle such high-end video and/or audio - or to create such files...
