How do you make a 1:1 copy of a DVD-5 Single Layer?

Ok, i know you can't just do a disc to disc copy due to the CSS encryption and all.. so i smartrip with the backup option and get the video_ts on my hdd.. now, if i burn this directory back to dvd-r it won't work :(

Any ideas?

Ok, burning the video_ts dir back with prassi will work on my pioneer 505 but on my panasonic dvd-rv20 no can do.. just says "no play" i have successfully played dvd-r & rw in this before copying dvds that had no css encryption.. so i dont think prassi is buring the dvdr to dvd spec? and the css discs are the only discs i am using ifoedit on to get vts sectors... could this be stuffing up the disc and not allowing it to play on my panasonic? has anyone got a disc to play in the panasonic dvd-rv20? if so how did you master it?

If the DVD will fit on a DVD5, U don't need to use ifoedit

Just smart-rip (backup) the entire DVD to your hard drive.

then just drag the video_ts folder to prassi to burn.

make sure that no "extra" files get into that video_ts folder,
like IDX files or TXT files.

I do this about tens times a week, so far so good.

I know you guys are probably tired of hearing this, but on certain OS's the VIDEO_TS folder made by SmartRipper is in lowercase characters. That won't work on all standalone players, so:
@Equinox: rename the folder to uppercase.
@Ollie: do you have a friend with a Sony player? Or do what I did, certain stores, like Best Buy, allow you to try your own disks in their players before buying. Unless you made your copies on Win2K (or possibly XP, I haven't tried it) they will have problems on some players.

I had the same problem with my DVD+RW burner and B's recorder. I have to add an empty AUDIO_TS folder that B's recorder does identify the image as a Video DVD and places the files on the correct positions on the DVD+RW.

Win2K leaves the folder name created by SmartRipper in uppercase, others change it.

Your right!! changing the folder name from "video_ts" to "VIDEO_TS" makes the copy work in my player!! yes!
