Just recently started having an issue with WMV files and scrubbing through the timeline (Zoomplayer), the video sort of fast forwards to catch upto the frame the I've scrubbed too.. Never had this problem before, usually just jumps to the frame instantly wit no issues...

162.18 forceware drivers with 8800gts

noticed on VLC that if I scrub through the timeline on WMV video it doesn't have the forwarding issue, but its really blocky while it tries to catch up to the current playing frame. VLC using its own WMV codec that isn't hardware accelerated?

Yes. All of VLC's codecs are built into the player.

VLC has that blockiness problem with most codecs. It simply keeps the current frame on-screen and jumps to a new one. Since the codecs don't store an entire image - only the parts that have changed from one frame to the next - on most frames, you get that effect. I'm not sure how other players deal with this.
