FLV to AVI - possible?

Hi

I have a few .flv files that i would like in .avi format. Can it be with VirtualDub? If so, how. If not, how then? I don't want to pay for a program while its only a few files.

the conversion could be done in several ways

but ffmpeg or mencoder is one of the fastest

ffmpeg.exe -i "test.flv" -vcodec xvid -bf 1 -b 512000 -acodec mp3 -ab 112000 "test.avi"

where 512000 is xvid bitrate and 112000 is mp3 bitrate

Try FLVExtract. It will convert movie to AVI and demux sound (most likely it will be MP3). Then you can use VirtualDub to mux the sound with the AVI and eventually recompress the video.

Just get Avidemux :)

I would like to recommend the SUPER encoder program for this.
Works like a charm when I convert flv clips :)
It's freeware as well.

2 questions yet:
1. what exactly do I have to do to implement AAC and x264 into AviDemux? (Xvid and Lame work fine)
2. how do I turn off the annoying sound that comes with the confirmation that the transformation of the video is complete? I want to keep the info, just eliminate the sound.


on 1: I have downloaded x264 from x264.nl (exe), but it's not a zip, not an installer and inserting it into the AviDemux dir doesn't seem to help.

1. What do you mean with "implement" ??? All the encoders you mention (x264, Xvid, AAC and LAME) are already implemented in Avidemux since ages! So what do you need to do? Nothing, except downloading the latest build from the web-site I already mentioned. That's it :)

2. The "x264.exe" file from x264.nl is the CLI (command-line) version of the x264 encoder. That executable is intended to be used from the console. You will find a lot of information about that in the "MPEG-4 AVC" sub-forum on Doom9. But as long as you want to use Avidemux, you don't need to care about x264 CLI. Avidemux has the x264 encoder built-in. The same applies to Xvid and all the other encoders, including those you mention. So again: Just grab the latest build an be happy :p

3. About the sound: Avidemux doesn't play any sounds, except Windows standard Dialogbox sounds. If you want to change those, goto Start -> Run... -> "control mmsys.cpl" (without the quotation marks)

BTW: The latest build (r3488) gives enormous speed-up for x264 encoding on certain CPU types ;)

Sorry, I'm not quite on the topic, as I understood, you want free program, but I can you advise a Flash to Video Encoder on geovid com
it cost 49.95 USD, but I think that it's very cheap for such high quality:)
