View Full Version : How to demux an mp4, AAC, x264?

so I made a back up of a movie that is in a different language. I made .srt subtitles and muxed them into an mp4. I accidentally dumped the original raw material that the mp4 is made of when I formated my C: drive about a month ago and now when I try to play the back up I see no subtitles. So I am trying to demux the mp4 to see if I screwed up something when making the .srt or muxing. I have been tinkering with yamb and I have been able to get the .srt and the x264 video (I think) out correctly but I can't figure out how to get the audio out. My plan is to make sure everything is correct and then re mux it all. I suppose I could re encode it all but I would rather not as it's a time consuming process. Does any one have any suggestions on how I should go about this?

Also I am using directvobsub to play subtitles. Could the problem be here? Is there some setting that may have gone berserk and is directvobsub the recommended method for subtitle playback?

Edit: After a little more tinkering I have come to the conclusion the i named the .srt improperly and this is why it will not play. I changed the name of the .srt I removed from the mp4 with yamb to be the same as the mp4 and it works like a charm.
