i am new to backing up dvds so bear with me,lol.
i am trying to back up one of my dvd's. i have done it before usingdvddevrypter and dvdshrink. about a week ago when i tried to backup a dvd i got this error message:

DeviceIoControl(FSCTL_LOCK_VOLUME) Failed!
Device:[:0:0] TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-H552L 0614 (E) (ATA)
Unable to lock volume for exclusive access.
Reason:Access is denied

i have backed up some of my dvd's before and have never gotten this message. if anyone can offer some advice, i would appreciate it. i dont know as much as some of the guys on here, so dumb-down your answers appropriately, lol.

This is most commonly caused by packet writing apps such as InCD, DLA or Drag to Disc. Part of the way they work is to keep constant access to the drive so when another burning app needs to gain exclusive access to the drive it can't and the write process will be aborted. If you have any packet writing apps, uninstall them and see if that clears up your problem.

Hope this helps !

i opened up my task manager and i dont see any of those things you mentioned (none of the names sounded familiar also).
any more ideas or things i should look for?

its weird because i havent installed anything new on my computer and it just started happening out of nowhere.
