I'm seeking any advice on how I can recover, restore, and rescue bad DVD movies. Is their really a software that can due the trick. These DVD movies are not encrypted, but every time I run the disc on DVDFab Platinum and DVD decrypter, keep reading error?

Isobuster can do it, but I like IsoPuzzle from http://www.geocities.com/marsoupilamis/

It works great and has helped me recover disks that explorer doesn't want to touch. It's *designed* to get data off failing disks and will build an iso for you. Lets you rip what you can get, moving the media between multiple drives if necessary, to get all the readable data off.

Just a happy user of it.

I'd recommend ISOPuzzle too, but if you wanna rescue a bad movie, write to the studio and ask them to use better cast, scriptwriters, directors and producers. :D

Any idea what I could do to rescue a bad joke? :p lol

Also try to clean the DVD then use IsoPuzzle. This has worked nearly everytime for me except once. I had to go buy the movie only version of Fight Club because my other special edition DVD had a tiny nick in it.

Hmm. Every time I've tried ISObuster, it comes up with unrecoverable errors. Is ISOpuzzle better at reading the disc from different angles?

@unknownsoldierX

The SOLE purpose of ISOPuzzle is to recover discs with bad sectors - including the remarkable ability to sometimes reconstruct the bad sectors! From what I've seen, ISOPuzzle is far and away the best disc recovery program that's out there...
