hi guys. I want to ask question about capturing driver.

1. what type of driver would dv and firewire device will be installed when plug in to pc?

2. can you guys suggest me a good capture program out there? i dont care price or free. There is vlc, but i doubt about its dv firewire and wdm capture capability. It shows it support DirectShow capture

3. do you think virtualdub able to capture dv and firewire? I heard it only support vfw and analogue video capturing.

Assuming you have Windows XP or later, all the drivers you need will already be present. Just install the FireWire card then connect it to your camcorder, turn it and that's it.

Most likely, at that point, you'll see a window pop-up asking what you'd like to do. One option is "Import Video" (or similar). If you choose that, Windows Movie Maker will open and you can capture your DV with it. It's free and installed already.

Alternatives (some):

WinDV (free)
DVIO (free)
Scenalyzer (not free)
Enosoft DV Processor (our very own, and free for personal use)
