best quality specs

I was wondering if someone out there whose been doing svcd/vcd's alot could give me some help. I want to know what the best numbers are for quality/sound/size etc for svcd/vcd encoding cuz that program has too many options and takes way too long to play around with inorder for me to get those good numbers.
