Really slow encoding with StaxRip opposed to AutoGK - please help

Hi Guys,

Not sure what I am missing here. I encoded the same MPG file in both StaxRip and AutoGK

Both: Target file size to 373 MiB in XviD.

StaxRip is taking 06:59:48 hours
AutoGK is taking 02:38:50 hours

I wanna move to StaxRip because there are like 100 HDTV MPGs I need to convert to XviD and I can't afford to click and browse the MPG files 100 times in AutoGK.

The log shows the first pass was running at 4 fps, second at 25. Maybe you are using the newest XviD version and it's not compatible with the StaxRip XviD defaults. In StaxRip you can try to reset the XviD config dialogs and config them manually.

Stax, I am running the XviD_1.1.2.0 that was auto downloaded from StaxRip 1.0.0.1.

I will try DivX 6.6.1 and let you know.

Really strange as to why this happens. I didn't alter any default setting. I will try deleting the Settings folder and retry.

So for XviD the first pass is badly slow for unknown reason and for DivX the same happens but for the second pass, strange. It's probably not because of the codec settings then but I have no clue what it could be. AutoGK works similar to StaxRip, are you sure it wasn't another process using the cpu?
