I remember a while ago there was a website where people would do a benchmark of playing back various H.264 encoded files for various CPUs.

Does anyone know where it is so i can check a few things?

Don't know the site, but the tool most equipped for DirectShow decoder testing is Reclock (http://reclock.free.fr/). You'd do well to look around here too. ;)
