Using XMPEG. How do I select a certain timeframe of video instead of the whole thing?

I can either open the full video VOB off the DVD or rip a chapter selection off SmartRipper, but either way I can't seem to figure out how to do a certain custom selected timeframe of video. Like, say I want a 1 minute segment from 1:31:43 to 1:32:43 on the DVD. How can I make a selection with XMPEG? If I can't, is there another ripping software that will allow me to select a timeframe?
Please don't tell me to use Flask because it has always crashed on this and my last computer.

its time for you to go hit Gordian Knot, try it with divx 4 first.
I think you will find it much more useful than flask
of course for the first few runs, try and follow doom9's guide. this is not to say that you need to to learn it, I'm just saying that everyone will learn faster when something is teaching them.

I don't know about selecting a specific timeframe but can't you just scroll through the movie till you find the start of the clip, select 'set start of job' goto the end select 'set end of job' then select add job, then click on the big file in the job window and select 'delete job' then you should be left with a little file that you can encode. Its how I test the quality of certain filters and settings.
Or is this not what you meant ?!
Ho hum

Exactly what I meant. I know about the part where you can scroll around the VOB file. However, I don't see anywhere where it says select start/end of job. This is XMPEG again, not Flask.

Simply right click in the video stats box below the timeline and you get a little context menu, with the options you need, execpt the 'delete job' bit is called 'clear job', sorry I got that bit wrong ;-(
That should do the trick then...
Later.
