How would one put the animations of maya into premier pro? Also is there any tutorials to be found on how to use maya?
I wanna sort of learn how to make a small movie like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fRdqHKRYk1E
I am a total newb at this sorta thing and would be grateful if anyone could explain the whole process....

you have to use batch render, to render the animation to sequence images. then, you can import to NLE programs.
for web/computer, you can render as progressive, 640x480 is fine.
for dvd/tv, 720x480 (with 4:3 aspect) interlaced.

Also how do you put the animation into the video because the black background sorta blocks everything

make sure you choose the correct blending mode, probably "screen". That should get rid of the black background.

You are asking question on the wrong forum. Go to forums.cgsociety.org (http://forums.cgsociety.org/index.php) ...section "Application Specific (Compositing)", 'cause those effects from youtube you can do without Maya ;)
Once you learn how to do that and finally create one animation by yourself, come back here for encoding tips. :)
