yeap, it's official. (http://www.mp3dev.org/mp3/history.html)
btw..
/me wonder why this feature is black-color, while the whole idea is quality.
believe it or not, but i can hear the difference between the old integer-process to the new one
btw, official v0.95a is out.
download it from my (stinkin') site.

download modifided lame_enc.dll from http://www.inf.ufpr.br/~rja00/.
--alt presets is mapped into quality #5.

Here's my command line:
"C:\Dvd\besweet\BeSweet.exe" -core( -input "C:\Dvd\shawshank redemption\new\test 384Kbps DELAY -83ms.ac3" -output "C:\Dvd\shawshank redemption\new\audio.mp3" ) -azid( -z1 -b1 -s stereo -c normal -L 3db ) -ssrc( --rate 44100 ) -lame( -q 5 )
And it's not working as supossed to work, I got 128 kbit CBR audio. DLL I use, is from page mentioned above.

According to the docs, -q is not a supported switch, so how can you use the modified DLL?
I know you aren't working on the modified DLLs, but it is too bad the lame and ssrc dlls aren't as configurable as the azid one.

what are you missing in ssrc.dll ?

Admittedly most of its options would be rather useless in this context, but it would be nice to be able to use dithering.

a. are you aware of that dithering is uneeded since the WHOLE process is floating-point ?
b. even if dithering is used, it doesn't mean anything about the RESAMPLING quality !

Sorry, I forgot about floating point there for a second. I would still like to know if all the alt presets will be supported, or at least how some of them can be used with the modified dlls if BeSweet does not support the -q switch.

Download the hacked DLL files and then read the docs that come with it. It explains everything clearly. I've tested them with HeadAC3he several times and they worked fine. Like the author says, it's not a pretty solution but it works.

Yes, I understand how to use the modified DLLs. They use different presets based on what you have quality set to. The problem here is that setting the quality is not supported, at least according to the BeSweet documentation.
Update: I tried using DLL3, which supports the ABR alt presets. It didn't seem to work properly, since BeSweet reported that it was using ABR but the output file was CBR.

@western shinma-
I haven't tested the DLL files with BeSweet so I can't really help. Give HeadAC3he a try using the modified DLLs and see if that works for you. The GUI lets you set the quality level like your looking for.
Otherwise just encode your WAV seperately using the --alt-presets:(
Another option is to enocde to a nice ABR file which will be small and still have very nice quality
--alt-preset 140 works really well for me and still maintains the DPL information.

Cool, that is basically what I had in mind. I'll give it a shot, although I do like some of BeSweet's other options better.
