Help Spliting Video files

My Problem is im encoding a show from a dvd that doesn't have each video separated so all the videos end up in 1 file and the problem is its encoded in Xvid with AAC Audio And spu For the subtitles in a mkv container and when i open it will VDubMod and get and error saying can only handle [S_TEXT/] subs for the moment im not worried about that size of the videos but i need to be able to split the episodes out of the video there is 4 in every video file is that a program that can do that

Hi!im encoding a show from a dvd that doesn't have each video separatedPresuming it's a commercial episodic DVD, the episodes are either separate Titles or separate chapters - either of which can be ripped using DVD Decrypter (or, if due to the type of copy protection, ripped first with RipIt4Me and then DVD Decrypter).

What is the Title and Region of the DVD?

the dvd is Gun X Sword it is region 1 i am using dvd srink and when i re-author the is only 1 title under the main movie

There will ALWAYS be only one title assumed to be the "Main Movie". DVD Shrink (and most similar programs) assume that the LARGEST title is the main movie.

You'll likely find the other titles/episodes "hidden" in the DVD Shrink "Extras" folder...

everything in the extras are just extras title 4 which is what shows up under main movie is all 4 episodes i was looking into dvd decrypter and what im going to try doing is figure out what chapters are for each episode and try getting them that way but its there any program that can split the episode with the file that i encoded

Using DVD Decrypter in "IFO" mode should provide you with the needed breakdown/separation...

im going to try that now there are 25 chapters i just have to figure out when the episodes start and end in the chapters worked out perfect with dvd decrypter i jsut play in vlc and can pick each chapter and figure out when it starts and ends

Edit: Thanks for the help i would have never though to do it by chapters or try using dvd decrypter was able to get what exactly what i needed to

well i thoght all was fine but its not i never check the videos after encoding and each epsiode is in its own vob files but when encded the video still says its and hour and 38 mins each epsiode is 23 mins so how can i eliminate the remaining time from the vob file

Have you tried DVD Decrypter in IFO mode?

Ordinarily this will separate the episodes to be ripped individually.

yes i have done that i used ifo to break each epsiode into its own vob file thats no the problem tho its the fact that when i encode it from the broken down vob files the lenght of each epsiode should be about 24 mins but it shows the same lenght of the entire dvd which is about 1h38min so when i encode it its 1h38 mins but after then end of the epsiode it has and hour + of black screen that freezes both vlc media player and wmp11

Does each PGC have the total length of the DVD, then? If so, IFO mode alone won't help, you'll have to manually trim each episode in the gui of your choice. There really isn't any automatic way of doing that, if the IFO isn't set up properly.

My post was not a question directed toward you. It was for the original poster, along with a visual aid to make sure he/she understood exactly how to select IFO mode.

I have noticed that some times it will be then entire lenght of dvd and some times just the length of the chapter riped from dvd decrypter. Also if i were to go in and trim the vob before the encode would they still work with the ifo as i need it for the subtitles
