Hi,

I have a 700 MB Xvid file here and I want to know how much of the 700 MB is dedicated for video and how much for audio

Does anyone know a formula for calculating this? I would also prefer if the outcome is in Megabytes, not kilobytes or bytes.

The video bitrate of that file is 800 kbps and the audio bitrate is 128 kbps

:thanks: in advance

Hi!

Just load the video into GSpot. you'll find the information in the "Container" section...

Thanks for the quick answer but I'm on Linux and that's not really what I'm looking for. I need some kind of formula so that I can integrated it into one of my shell scripts

Well if you know the bitrates you can just do the math using bc :D

0.94 * (movie length in minutes) = audio size in mb

0.94 mb is 1 minute of 48khz 128kbps cbr mp3

you multiply that with the movie length and you get the audio size. (should be obvious how to get the video size from that)

easiest way i can think of, though not precise, but you wanted
it in mega bytes and that aint precise anyway :p
