I found a lossless codec (or near lossless depending on settings) called Alparysoft. Have been using it with super results so thought I would pass it on :):)

Hi Smiley, rather odd first post, so I was dubious. I'm still a noob, so that may explain why I've never heard of this codec. So I gave it a quick (and very rough) test.

Comparing ffdshow huffy and this on fastest settings in VDub and the mencoder command line meGui uses. Baring in mind I have a dual core. Source was a short anamorphic clip from BBC four that was the first thing I encountered.

Encoding: Very impressive, eats mencoder alive on pace. Mencoder managed about 65fps, both ffdshow and Alparysoft were about 145fps. mencoder 323MB, Alparysoft 373MB and ffdshow 548MB.

Decoding Different story here, I ran them all through AVIsource in a script and timed them. Aplarysoft 35.5fps, mencoder 54.6 and the ffdshow file 75.1fps.

So overall I'd say it wins the encoding but suffers badly on decoding. I also checked them all for being lossless and they all were.
