View Full Version : File Size Way Too Low with Family Guy Episodes

Okay. I'm trying to encode season 4 of Family Guy into 175 MB/episode chunks. For whatever reason though, when I encode, the files all come out to different sizes (usually between 80-95 MB.) They actually look pretty darn good, but I can't help wondering what the deal is, when I set it to make a 175 MB file. Any ideas? Thanks.

By the way, I'm using Gordian Knot. Thanks.

Under Xvid options, change Profile @ Level to unrestricted for both first and second passes. If that doesn't help, uninstall Xvid, delete the xvid.ax and xvid.dll files, then reinstall Xvid.

Alright. I'll give that a go. I noticed you mentioned that on someone else's post, but to be honest, I was a little skeptical to try. Anyway, I installed the Xvid that's in the Gordian Knot package. I wonder if that has anything to do with it. Thanks.

Well, I tried what you said, but no luck. I'm really puzzled at the moment and not sure what to do. Anyway, I'll keep trying.

Hi-

If the resolution is too low, you won't be able to reach the desired size. So, if you're making them for something like 320x240, that could account for it. The fix might be to make them for 640x480. Or aim for a smaller size.

Well, similar to another problem I had, I reformatted, reinstalled and "magically" everything works the way I want it to. I have no clue. Anyway, thanks for the suggestions.
