i have been playing around with the various profiles on megui and i am trying to find a way to get the most out of the least amount of bits, thus the reason for using 264 in the first place.
i have been using the cq-asp_q2_eq(crf) profile and i get excellent quality at very low bitrates (around 800) and i love the resulting file size, but i would like to get it to be a little closer to dvd quality.
when i try to increase the bitrates on my own, i end up going into the 2000's which gets into xvid territory and i dont want that.
is there some tweaking that can be generally recommended to utilize the low bitrate but excellent quality of x264.
i know it depends on source and it depends on personal preference to how much quality one is willing to sacrifice, but i'm just looking for general tips to tweak the quality out of the given profiles. if anyone uses another profile that produces excellent quality at low br's i'd be interested to hear.
thanks-
