View Full Version : MeGUI's Mencoder build

Is anyone else having troubles running mencoder in MeGUI? For me, the build provided by autoupdate errors out because of a missing pthreadGC2.dll. I believe this build is by Celtic Druid; where can I either get the required library (I tried googling and searching here, but the libraries I found seemed to be out of date (just causing a different crash)) or get a build which doesn't require it? Or am I alone in having this problem?
Cheers,

When is mencoder used? It does the prerender job to huffy right? Well that is working for me.
Megui uses: mencoder = dev-SVN-r23107-4.3.0 and pthreadGC2.dll = 2.6.0.0
The other version of mencoder I have is dev-SVN-r23673-4.2.0 and 2.7.0.0 which also works fine.

carlo, there seems to be a couple of problems with ac3 through ffmpeg. Firstly the current build requires the pthread dll (which you can copy out the mencoder directory)
However the main problem is that by specifying a bitrate, then a bitrate of 0 is used, if no bitrate is specified, then 64kbs is used. Odd..
What you could do is find another build or use the old one.
Go to "C:\Program Files\megui\tools\ffmpeg"
rename "ffmpeg.exe" to "ffmpeg.exe.backup2" and then rename "ffmpeg.exe.backup" to "ffmpeg.exe"
On testing there seems to be a further problem with the AC3 showing as 6ch, but that's another issue.

thanks
i used the backup
it s work now
i tryed the aac codec but why @ 162kbps bitrate the aac file is biger than the ac3 @ 192kbps
i read the aac is better in quality but y ise it if the files is bigger ?
ok i found must be something wrong, the average bitrate is 221kbps and not 162kbps
i set the bitrate @ 140kbps and got a average bitrate of 188kbps but file is still litle bigger than the ac3 @192

carlo, so you have narrowed it down to the AAC being too large? Have you a log file?
Which aac codec are you using, I always use the Nero one and don't have any problems with it.

Nero AAC's license doesn't allow 3rd party distribution, you have to download it here: http://www.nero.com/nerodigital/eng/Nero_Digital_Audio.html

I just update Megui today and now I have this message every time when I do a encode with "add pre-rendering job" checked:
Looking for job processor for job...
No processor found!
Skipping job job21-2.
Job 21-2 is the job that create the huffy avi.
If I uncheck this option i can do the encode.
Anybody can help me?

Apparently I'm missing that file as well. Berrinam did you find a place to download it?
