Tool Q: split DVD title into chapter VOB or MPG files

Scenario: dance recital DVD. Each dance is a chapter. I want to split the chapters into separate VOB or MPG files for easy indexing. What's the most appropriate tool to do that?

The same can be accomplished, with regard to files already on the hard drive, with the ancient "Smartripper"...

yea... i loved SmartRipper, an excellent tool.. but now we have better solutions :)
