Hi!
Can ya anyone explain me sth??
I "made" a lot of movies with mp3 audio and they looks good.
I working with flask, vdub, present gknot0.21.
Now i try to make divx movie with ac3 sound, and there is my problem...: can`t make smooth movie, i`ll try all: 1,2,3 cd`s, low- high- resolutions, right interleaving etc.. Movie looks good only on slow- scenes, but when fast camera move or endcredits-- looks not-smooth.
It ts normal??
Thanx a lot for explain and sorry for my terrible english :)

Your problem is caused by the audio interleaving. In Nandub/VirtualDub you need to set audio interleave to between 64-90
Try 64 and save direct stream and see if the stutters clear up.

now i can sleep well at night... :o
for all members: if ya combine divx + ac3 sound then ya have to:
in nandub interleaving options for 384kbps sound:
160 preload, 160 interleave (miliseconds).
in nandub interleaving options for 448kbps sound:
96 preload, 96 interleave (miliseconds), or
64 preload, 64 interleave (miliseconds).
works allwayz fine.

This simply isn't true that everyobody has to use these settings. Myself and some other always use the defaults(500/1)and have no problems. If I had to guess your probablly using a lovely SoundBlaster. So it might be fair to say all SoundBlaster users need to use your settings.
Are there any SoundBlaster users out there that are able to use the default interleave settings while muxing an AC3?

Yes. I have SB live 5.1, win2k pro (SP2), newest driver (with update) and Abit KG7 (TB 1,4).

the difference between 1 frame and 96/64ms interleave is not so much visible. you need to have a close look at the video to see it. mostly it is seen during slow scenes where the camera moves or during the end credits. i would recommend all user of avi+ac3 to have a close look if theres is a difference in smothness between the video with and without ac3 sound.
i think there a much people out who doesnt see the difference at first look.

ok, ya right... but default settings gives visible stutters.
Ya might see this at the end credits. They looks bad and makes me nervous. Test myy settings and reply :)

No they don't. I have seen several examples with other SB configurations that have this problem, though.

Using SB Live Value here with 50 (not 500) preload, 96ms interleave on all my movies with no problems at all.
And believe me, quality is my only concern, so zero macroblocks, errors, skipping, etc. SWORDFISH, for example, is 2.4 gigs when done @ 720x304 with a frame of 720x416 @ 3000kbs, and is absolutely perfect.
The frame itself takes a negligable amount bits away from the movie IF ANY. It blends seemlessly with the rest of the black screen in fullscreen viewing mode. No pixels or evidence of encoding at all, like the slight noise you see in a black area within a film even if watching a DVD.
