Search option and the letters...

I've just a question: Is really necessary to put those letter when you use the search option?
Not that I complain, it's ok, but it has something to do with security?

Not that I complain, it's ok, but it has something to do with security?No, it's resource conservation and prevention of dos attacks by overloading the server with search requests. This forum has been under attack a couple times by such automated attempts. And, you are a member so you really shouldn't be concerned by this.. members don't have to go through image verification to search.
If you want to be search without being logged in - use google. For basic searches it's better anyway - it just lacks the ability to limit searches to certain forums and posts by certain members and show results by thread or post but as in real life, you can't have your cake and eat it.

I use sometimes the search option when I'm not logged in... that's why the question.
