The media attention to Apple's iPhone has been worth millions in advertising. I don't know what it is about people that that make them go gaga over Apple's silly and expensive products.

$600 for a phone plus a contract for service that by itself is very expensive for such service. For what? What kind of mentality thought Apple's anti-ergonomic, one-button round mouse was cool? The same kind who think it's cool to have a phone without a keypad.

Too bad Apple had to partner with AT&T. The phone itself isn't so bad; some who buy it will love it and some will hate it, just like all the other cell phones out there. (A lot more will probably love it just because it's pretty and isn't completely user-unfriendly, unlike most smartphones.) A lot of people said the same about the Razr, back when it cost $400, and still say the same about Palms and Crackberrys. They're not for me, and I wish the people with more money than the sense to wait for the dust to settle a good time. =p

Who cares its just a phone. If you want to look at the web or some film on a crumby screen while on the toilet than this I purpose must be the "must have" gadget for 2007. Me I use a phone to me calls send an occasional text and that's it. For all the sad people who lust over the latest gadget get a life. Have you tried the local swimming pool recently? Its very good but of course you can't take anything with you into the pool so you might be off line for a while.

Ye gads - it isn't waterproof??? With all the drooling over it, you'd have thought it must be. Just think if it were, you could swim laps/lengths without getting bored. It could probably even count them for you and, with a waterproof earphone, you could have someone speak encouragement to you.

(Waterproof MP3 players do exist - you can wear a pair when diving on the wreck of Blackbeard's Queen Anne's Revenge. However, the cost of such a luxurious dive is $500 a head (http://www.qaronline.org/divedown2007.htm). Just think - I could buy an iPhone with that. Or perhaps not.)

Well, did you even look at Handbrake, a very fast free one-click encoder, with the capability of using only certain chapters? You often get less for cheap shareware than freeware when it comes to video. Other free programs, like MeGUI, are ipod/iphone capable but need a little more interaction.

This things the flavour of the month , the power of talking things up.
The headphones socket is such that it´s sunk in, and you can only use certain types of earphones , or purchase a little adaptor. Nice one apple .

What about the Motorola F3? I guess not so good for texts. Small, light, cheap and I would assume runs forever without a recharge. No camera, colours screen, music, etc. Just a phone.

Video: Resized to 320x240 , 25fps PAL, 400 Kb/s.
Audio: aac Nero CLI 64 Kb/s.
I used megui with x264 for the video and BeLight/Nero CLI for the audio.
Result: The Real Player inside the N95 was able to play only the audio but not the video... I thought x264 was compatible, is not?
