Convert WMV to MPEG

In Vista, when I open the crossbar pattern I made with Media player classic it uses the windows video decoder.

The same thing if I open a avi in mpc.

I want to use the ffdshow video decoder.

If there a setting in ffdshow codecs so the dvd decoder decodes wmv ?

Settings all 5 "Windows Media Video" entries (WMV1/7, WMV2/8, WMV3/9, WVC1 and WMVP) to "wmv9" on the "Codecs" page does the trick for me here.
