Hello Everyone,

This is my first post, but I have been reading these forums for some time. This once I'd like to mention how much I appreciate the availability of this source and the many dedicated posters, experimenters, software authors, and generally good people that frequent this place.

Before I get to the question let me make sure I explain what I am trying to accomplish. I have no desire to compress my hd-dvd's in any way once I have them backed up to my computer. I also don't want to bother with editing .xpl files and keeping directory structures intact for a single movie. What I want to do is have a single playable .evo file shared on my home network to all of my computers. For you dvd folk out there, this would be the equivalent of a single merged main movie .vob.

I have the latest version of DVD FAB HD Decryptor which grabs all the files wonderfully. This leaves me with multiple files... .evo, .map, .vti, .dat, and .xpl files... (yes i know how to play the movie at this point) I'm then able able to demux the .evo files with EVOdemux .626. Then I can even rebuild the .evo files with only the bits I want, again with EVOdemux. What I can't do is get that single rebuilt .evo file to play stabe in in Cyberlink Power DVD 6.5 HD DVD, PDVD 7.3, or VLC 0.8.6c. Am I doing something wrong? Is the rebuild feature in EVOdemux not working properly? Do I just have the wrong player? Some people on this forum are partial to PDVD 7.2, will that fix my issue? If so does anyone know where I can find the 7.2 from 6.5 upgrade?

Many thanks in advance to anyone that can help me.

If you're trying to make one big file make sure you have an NTFS drive, as FAT32 maxes out at 4GB.

It is indeed NTFS. Thanks for the tip though.

What so you mean by "play stable" what happens to the file when you try to play it?

Cheers!

When i try to play it with

PDVD 6.5 - It takes a long time to start, then when it does it stutters real bad and finally will freeze somewhere between a few seconds and a few minutes in.

PDVD 7.3 - stutters like crazy while playing, generally doesn't freeze. still unwatchable

VLC 0.8.6c - won't play at all

Is playing a single .evo file outside of a hd-dvd filesystem structure even possible at this point? Do I need a .map, .xpl, and .vti file to go along with any .evo (even rebuilt) that I want to watch?

I think the answer is no and yes.
But don't worry :), I'm working on a .VTI and .MAP reading/rebuilding (corresponding to the rebuilt EVO).
