Hi,
Just wondering about whether or not Sky+ recordings are re-encoded to lower bitrate?
Or is it always a bit-perfect copy of the original transport stream?

With the right capture card/software, capturing any transport stream file (.ts) from satellite/cable/air(dvb-s/dvb-c/dvb-t) should be a one-on-one copy of the video/audio.
(So yeah, some H.264 satellite captures, from sky movies or premiere, are better quality then hddvd or bluray, oh wait you didn't ask this)

Sky is not hacked/cracked, but you can buy a CI-Module, or cardshare locally or via the interwebs.
