Hi guys,
I am ripping sections from a whole load of XviDs I have, all in various aspect ratios and resolutions. Some have black bars in them, some don't. Basically it's quite a collection of differently-encoded files.
What I want to ultimately do is to merge all the scenes that I have ripped into one DVD title, and I want this to fill the screen when played on a standard DVD player on a PAL 16:9 widescreen LCD TV, with no change in aspect ratio or no appearance of black bars as each scene fades into the next.
I am happy to crop off all the black bars and crop, resize and enlarge where necessary to acheive the desired result.
I am using VirtualDubMod to extract each scene from the XviDs (and doing all the resizing/cropping/enlarging at this stage), and then using TMPGenC XPress to join and convert the uncompressed video rips into one final DVD-ready MPEG2 file.
My question simply is this: What is a good 1:1 pixel dimension I should use? What width by what height?
This is the resolution that I will crop/resize/enlarge to in VDubMod so that all my exported scenes are in this same exact resolution, and then can be converted to DVD-format using TMPGenc.
Remember I want to play the finished product through a standard DVD player on a standard PAL 16:9 widescreen TV.
