Any filters to correct DivX files?

Yesterday I downloaded some files from Stage6 website but I wasn't impressed by the quality...

Why the video seems to be semi-interlaced - especially in fullscreen? Is there any filter to correct this?

Lousy deinterlacing on user-uploaded video? Say it ain't so, joe.

No, there's not much you can do with it once it's been deinterlaced, although I'm not really seeing "semi-interlaced". It looks like something just barely smarter than a dumb bob, but slow pans and flicker (like the fireplace) tend to show up any weaknesses in deinterlacers. You might be able to rig up something with an EDI and/or motion compensation, but I'm not sure you'd get far enough to be worth the effort.

A better title would be "Any filters to correct bad deinterlacing?", since it's a bit of a universal problem.

It seems to be the case for a great number of videos at stage6, that's why I wonder whether it was due to Divx itself.
I also re-encoded one of the files using DirectShowSource() and no filters with MeGUI at 1680kbps... horrible quality - and I know how to tweak settings at MeGUI.
