AVI mpeg4 lossless multi trimming where to ask

Which forum here would I ask this question?
I have for many years been using Ulead DVD movie factory 3 to multi trim unwanted bits out of mpeg2 captures... I have used the "make dvd" option then grabbed the temp file made and ripped that to AVI divx for my stand alone dvd player.
I am now able to capture in divx avi on the fly which makes using Ulead dvd maker out of the question as it only makes mpeg2 files, is there a lossless avi multi trim option ...... preferably free

Virtualdub and Avidemux can both do this. Drag the slider to the start edit, press selection start, drag it to the end, press selection end, press del, and continue to the next. Vdub uses home & end as selection keys, as well as menu items; Avidemux uses [ & ] as well as two buttons as on the toolbar. Vdub defaults to all scrolling all frames and you press shift to get keyframes only; avidemux inverts this behavior. Set vdub to direct stream copy; avidemux defaults to this. Then save! Both will use smart rendering if necessary.

Had older version of virtualdub I have used over the years for bits here and there, downloaded Virtualdubmod and using what you said quickly found my way around the program .. this must be one of the most flexible and useful pieces of open source software around .. i can remember fiddling with it at least 7 years ago.
